Introduction
One of the most challenging issues in web design is creating an intuitive, effective interface for navigation. It’s not uncommon to see sites with extensive options littered with links. At times, sites can be confusing to the user. With so many links, the user can effectively be searching for a needle in a haystack. Interface design for applications and various operating systems can be difficult as well. Flash gives web designers the ability to build dynamic menus to create effective, or in some case, profoundly ineffective navigation systems. One of the solutions many developers are adapting is creating "application" like menu systems that mimic the functionality of common applications or operating systems. This article details how to build a floating, drop-down menu in Flash.
