How the Menu will Function
The menu we’ll build in this article is a preliminary version of a menu I’m building for underscoremedia.com (to be launched later this year). I like to keep the navigation controls simple and out of the way of the content. As a result, I’ve built a menu that consists of a bar, with the word "menu:" (surprise!) on it, and an arrow that the user can {Click} on to expand or collapse the menu items. When the menu items are visible, rolling over each item highlights the item, and in some cases, a fly out menu appears when a particular item contains sub-items. In addition, the menu can be dragged around by the user.

The menu bar initially appears at the top of the Flash movie. It can be dragged by the user and when the user {Clicks} the arrow at the edge of bar (pointing upward initially) the menu items are displayed.
